SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISING FOR SMALL BUSINESS WEBSITES

Spend money, optimise your small business website for the search engines!

The aim of your website is probably to bring your product or service to the attention of qualified prospects, and to then induce them to buy, or to visit your place of business.

There are two main ways to achieve the first part of this aim, either through paid inclusion at the head of search engine results pages (SERPs), or with "organic" search engine results.

Paid inclusion is handled by the various search engines, and can be quite expensive, on top of the cost of setting up and maintaining your website.

Organic search results have the advantage of being more trusted by those doing the searching than the paid results, though it doesn't hurt to have your business name up top of the search results if you can afford paid inclusion.  Organic Search Engine ranking takes time and skill to bring your site near to the top of search results for your main keyword phrases, and it also costs money because much time must be invested into making sure that the copy and page-code make sense while including both your keywords and call to action.

Either way you get to the first page of the search engine results, you will be investing money in the success of your business.
The site must still gain the attention of your prospective customers and give them an easily-carried out “call to action”. It is definitely not about fancy graphics, it is about answering your potential customer's needs, and making it easy for them to buy from you, or to find your shop.

Optimising site content for organic search engine ranking is what I do best.  Understand that this is an on-going process, and can always do with up-dating and refinement. Research must be done into which phrases best suit your purposes, and are most likely to have a chance at a good ranking.  A website which is not maintained from time to time will inevitably fall in the search engine rankings.

Copywriting for high search engine ranking

Writing good content for your website is the first step to optimization for a top position in the Google search engine results pages ( serps ) for your keyword phrases.  This is best done by writing copy that makes sense to the reader, while making sure to include the words which they are most likely to use in their searchword phrases.  This sounds simple, but there is a skill to it, and it is a very competitive place, the first page of Google search results.

What about “Do-It-Yourself website content editing”?

Have you noticed something like this on a site selling website making services?

“The Web page editor works much like Microsoft Word. It is easy to use, so you won't have to pay a designer for site edits.”

Well, if you had the necessary skills to write your own content and code it correctly for a good Google ranking, then you wouldn't be looking for someone else to build or optimise a website for you.
Really, search engine optimisation is something best left to the professionals in the field, not to a web designer. That would be like getting the architect to build your new house.  As with a lot of trades skills, you could learn how to do a passable job at say, painting your house, but then maybe you don't have the years to put into learning how to write good website copy.
I am a professional website developer, designer and optimiser, and my strength is in the optimisation, that what has made my businesses successful enough for me to do this full-time.

Have me optimise your small business website, your return on investment ( ROI ) will be better, and you can concentrate on the business you know best, your own.
