For several years we ( wife and I ) have been building websites for our own businesses and occasionally for others in Brisbane, Queensland. We have been able to get those sites into the first pages of search engine results for their most important keywords, which has of course resulted in a significant increase in business for relatively little cost compared with Yellow Pages advertising and letter-box dropping for instance.
Eventually we decided that we would put our skills on the open market and make a business out of building and optimising websites for other businesses.

While my wife has contributed greatly to the design layout of her business sites, I do the coding to make it happen. I write the content and design code of the pages in html, formatted with css with a view to rapid page-load and very clean code, which in turn makes site navigation faster.
I prefer to use an absolute minimum of graphics, with css controlled navigation, but can certainly use graphics in navigation if the customer needs them.
I never use mass-produced templates; every site is unique to the client it is built for.
